About
Hello, I am Lindsay and am married to my lovely hubby, Derek. We both originate from Nottingham, but after several years moving around the country we have settled just outside of Ipswich, Suffolk. We share our home with our two bunnies, several rats, one gerbil called Berry and our old age grumpy cat, Treacle.
I have a few other web sites, one is a personal web site and the other two are pet sites, about rat care and dwarf bunnies. Not everyone’s cup of tea – or slice of cake – but I do love my ratties. I like web and graphic design and it is my dream to one day own Photoshop. I’m stuck with a very old version of Paint Shop Pro, which is great, but I’d like Photoshop more.
I was first introduced to cake decorating by my sister-in-law, Lesley, who sent me a photograph of a haunted castle cake she had made for her son’s birthday party. All my life I have been into crafts like cross stitch, drawing, dress making and embroidery, so cake decorating seemed like a great hobby. Annoyingly I have problem with my hands, they get very hot and shaky when I’m concentrating and it can cause me real problems when covering cakes, though I still love having a go every now and again.
I still enjoy having a look around other people’s blogs, admiring their creations and so this site was born. My original idea being to aim this site at cake decorating new comers and to blog and write articles about cake decorating and classes, but it grew into something much more.
About the cake decorating blog directory
There are so many great cake decorating blogs out there and a lot are so hard to find. I was visiting a blog directory, when the idea hit me, “Why don’t I create a list of cake decorating blogs I have found?” Derek is a computer programmer and has created a few WordPress themes so I thought I would see what he thought. Well, Derek took to the idea right away and, bless him, took my original idea and designed me the amazing blog directory you see now.
I split the directory into four categories ‘Enthusiasts’, ‘Instructors’, Professionals’ and ‘Recipes’, to make it easier for people to find each other. This seemed preferable to one huge long list of blogs, because believe me I have found loads! I also added tags for people who are looking for something more specific. Lets say you were interested in handbag cakes, you pick that tag and hey presto there is a list of blogs that feature handbag cakes.
Due to size constraints, Google liking to regionalise things and future plans I have for the site, I decided to split it up into three web sites. If you visit the blog category pages you will see buttons in the side bar for the United Kingdom and Australia, these will take you to similar blog directories which feature UK and Australian bases blogs respectively.
So there it is, I really hope you enjoy visiting my site and if you have any comments or suggestions I would love to hear from you.
