The website is run by husband and wife team, Derek and Lindsay Pollard, who saw the growing demand for cake decorating courses in the United Kingdom, but also spotted the difficulty that potential students have in finding courses when they search for them on the Internet. Every day, hundreds of cake decorating enthusiasts search the Internet, but struggle to find relevant results. They then post questions on forums and Q&A sites, usually concluding that there are no courses available locally to them.
